Email addresses collected by Wildlife Notes are never sold. Within the Wildlife Notes system, they are used only for obviously acceptable activities such as replying to messages.
However, any illegal or inappropriate use of Wildlife Notes will be pursued aggressively. In such cases, email addresses and other information may be shared with authorities such as law enforcement personnel and Internet service providers.
Transactions with the Wildlife Notes web server are logged. Normally logs are used only for debugging and statistical analysis of system use and performance. However, Internet addresses included in logs can and will be used to trace illegal and inappropriate use of the Wildlife Notes system.

To function properly Wildlife Notes needs to "set a cookie" on your computer. This cookie contains no personal information and is used only by Wildlife Notes. It is temporary and will go away when you exit your Web browser.
Please bear in mind that the Wildlife Notes system sends electronic mail and temporarily stores unencrypted messages and email addresses in a database. These processes are inherently insecure. If your communications require absolute confidentiality, you need to look elsewhere.
